Holly Robinson Peete reveals her special Mother’s Day requirements to the hosts – “My kids have marching orders. I want a nap, I like being in my bed now… And I just want to be right all day, like nobody can challenge me. Don’t argue with me! And I need this attention for 24 straight hours. From midnight to the next day! I also make them write me letters, this is really crazy, and in the letters, I want them to tell me what a great mom I am. I do give them talking points!”
Holly made her television debut at the age of 4 on Sesame Street, where her father, Matt Robinson, played the original Gordon. She humorously recalls that during filming, she kept saying “Hi, Daddy” instead of “Hi, Gordon,” leading to her walking down the street with Big Bird instead of delivering lines.
She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a degree in psychology and French. During her studies, she spent a year abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris, becoming fluent in French and even performing in nightclubs, including a duet with jazz legend Lionel Hampton.
Holly co-founded the HollyRod Foundation with her husband, Rodney Peete, to provide support for families affected by Parkinson’s disease and autism. This initiative was inspired by her father’s battle with Parkinson’s and her son’s autism diagnosis.
She co-authored the children’s book My Brother Charlie, which won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work. The book was inspired by her family’s experiences with autism and aims to foster understanding and acceptance. Wikipedia
